Scripture Focus: “Do not love the world or anything in the world. If anyone loves the world, love for the father is not in them.”
1 John 2:15

Today’s culture praises luxury, beauty, abundance and personal gain/power. And while all of these things appear good on the outside, they can so easily pull us into dangerous and deceptive territory if we continue to pursue them above God. Self-Help Culture focuses heavily on Self as the Savior.
A lot of us are familiar with the saying, “No one is coming to save you so you must save yourself.” But in all reality, we are not our own redeemers and someone did come to save us. His name is Jesus. And true personal growth is found and rooted in Him.
If we aren’t careful, we may unknowingly follow a path that all in all bears fruit, but not the good kind. We may end of following a path that produces pride, greed, envy, lust, gluttony, wrath, and sloth which, are outside the fruit of the spirit. So let us pause today to examine what the fruit in our lives looks like.
Prayer: Holy Spirit thank you for the gift of discernment. Please help me to discern what is good and righteous. Please give me the wisdom to see things through a spiritual lens. Uproot anything in me that mirrors the world more than it mirrors you.
